ibook, writing and insomnia

The speakers on my ibook died a few days ago (the earphone jack works fine)… the thought that I should be replacing her has been milling around my mind for a while now. While it is not as fast as most modern laptops.. I still feel attached to her and don’t want to say good bye just yet.

I have had this ibook for a little over three and a half years now, and.. ignoring the speakers, it is in perfect working condition. I only notice its age when I am streaming some of the higer quality media from the net.. or some flash based sites, but I can live without these things.. seeing as I have a Mac Pro sitting on my desk downstairs.

I am thinking that I should do a clean install and use yuki (her name) for writing and general use when I am not at home.. ot just don’t feel like going to the mac pro to work.

One the subject of writing. I have been trying to get back into it recently. I have always had a love / hate relenship with my writing… insofar as I love the act of writing.. and I hate everything I write. I posted some stuff I wrote on my wow guilds forums… not sure if I would ever post anything on the net for all to see….

  1. hmm yours breaks and i get a free laptop! what you need speakers for anyway?, I don’t have any since i selotaped mine into the car.

what do you write? practice writing stuff you don’t like (romance, factual or whatever) and if you can write a good story outta that, the genre you like writeing in will improve? (did that make sense?)

  2. I listen to a lot of music when I am on the computer. Something about that distraction makes it easier to concentrate on what I am doing,

I write all kinds of things.. most of which never gets saved. There are a few poems that got saved and a short story. I can send them to you sometime if you poke me on skype.

As for writing in a different genre, it should work.

  3. I seem to recall you maxed the ram in yuki and the hard drive is a pain to replace in those models. If you’re going to erase the drive, you might want to try out 10.4 again if it’s only for light use and can make do without all the new features.

Hmm, you’re actually online atm, so I’ll poke you about that in chat…
